An Image Consultant can be a generalist who is open to helping clients in many different areas or has a niche or two that defines the consultant's expertise. Image Consultants seek to meet needs in the area where they live, choose a specific niche for themselves and move to an area where those clients reside, or does a bit of both and is open to travel.

An Image Consultant might focus on a person's wardrobe, skin care, grooming and hygiene, etiquette and manners, life coaching, corporate skills, small businesses, dating, modeling, hair, nails and make-up, or any number of specific skills that a client is searching for to build a more positive and successful image. This is a business that has no limits, is international in scope, offers hope to everyone and the client pool is unending.

An image consulting business can be run out of your home, in a small office or with another expert who has a business in a similar field--like a beautician, exercise studio, a boutique, or in a corporation. To find some success in this career it is important to get good training, join a professional association, develop a business plan and write down your goals and document steps on how you intend to reach them.
