Course Syllabus

This course covers the basics of caring for children, physically, mentally, and emotionally.  Lessons include topics that cover some crucial components of a child's overall well being, like nutrition and sleep, as well as some potential dangers, such as drowning, drugs, and social stressors.

The internet is full of advice on how to parent, but it is not always factual or practical. This course provides objective, research-based information on subjects like parenting style and technology use to allow you to make sound decisions for you and your child(ren). It also reviews subjects like common childhood illnesses to help you understand the basics of maladies that your child may experience, as well as how those diseases spread and what you can do to keep your family healthy.

This online course also provides hands-on, concrete examples to help navigate some of the more frustrating challenges of parenthood. For example, not only does the course cover a child's biological sleep needs, but it also reviews how to set your family up for a peaceful bedtime with simple, solid routines and boundaries. Similarly, for older children, a lesson on technology provides factual information along with practical advice to help parents provide firm, safe boundaries.
