Course Syllabus

Starting your own dog day care is not an easy task.  Just a love of dogs is not enough.  To be a successful business requires research of the area, the community, the laws and zoning and professional organizations that support such ventures.  It requires the development of relationships with other business owners, the governance of the area, the people in the community and more specifically the pet community.

In order to be competitive, the dog day care entrepreneur needs to examine the needs, the array of possible services and how to build a customer base by becoming a dog professional who is knowledgeable, keeps up on current trends and advocates for pet owners in the community.  Creating a solid plan after gathering a broad set of information, consulting with an attorney, an accountant, and a financial institution is necessary for success. 

In this class you will learn how you can develop dog day care facility as a community base for all pet owners, offering classes, sponsoring events, and being a leader in both the business community and the neighborhood. You'll also learn how to run a smaller boutique dog day care focused on a specific breed or high end services. The variety of possibilities in dog day care centers is endless and exciting.  This class will help you examine these opportunities and guide you to best determine what makes sense for your passion and strengths.
