Course Description

Whether you're traveling to Spain or any other Latin American country for business or pleasure, it's important to understand the culture, the behaviors, the values and morals of the people at your destination.

Business or leisure travelers to Spain need to deal with passports and other important documents. Those traveling to business for Spain should understand the etiquette of doing business in this culture. Cultural awareness issues also include proper manners and expectations in business gatherings and negotiations. This course will offer you tips in successfully engaging in business in Spain.

Students will also learn basic travel tips and safety issues as well as what to expect when traveling through Spain and respecting its customs and traditions. This course explores some of the more popular festivals that occur throughout the year and introduces some of Spain's most delicious culinary delights.

The Spanish are an incredibly passionate people who love their entertainment. Spanish traditions and customs, from flamenco to bullfighting, are found in every region of the country. As a predominantly Catholic nation, ancient tradition, expectations and values are steeped in their customs regarding birth, baptism, passage into adulthood, marriage and death.

Changing values and the political landscape of Spain have brought the country through centuries of strife. Today, Spain is a wonderfully diverse country rich in both contemporary ideals and values that nevertheless blend with centuries of tradition. Finally, students will conclude the course with a brief glimpse into a few famous Spanish tourist destinations and World Heritage Sites.
