A Code of Conduct is a reference tool that organizations use across the globe as a compass for their employees and members to utilize and refer to when making decisions or performing their job duties. According to the Cambridge Dictionary, Code of Conduct is "a set of rules about how to behave and do business with other people."

To put this into context, a Code of Conduct for a large hospital group would help physicians better understand how they can interact with prescription drug manufacturers, if they can accept gifts from patients, and what they should do when faced with an ethical dilemma in delivering patient care.
